The NDP claim to spend more on infrastructure, but it does so once every four years at election time – three years of bust then a one-year boom.
In fact, Selinger’s NDP underspent the infrastructure budget by an average of 28% in every year of its last term - with the exception of the year leading up to the election, of course.
Our PC plan commits to long-term, assured and targeted investment of no less than $1 billion per year. This would exceed the NDP’s infrastructure spending over the past four years. The plan would institute return on investment as part of the criteria in choosing projects for our 5 and 10-year plans.
Infrastructure is too important to our future prosperity to be used to buy votes at election time or as a desperate attempt to explain away broken promise tax hikes.

Our PC government has submitted its response to the federal government on its proposed backstop and benchmarks for carbon pricing, Premier Brian Pallister announced today.
The response highlights the significant investments Manitobans have made in renewable energy and also notifies of the province’s decision to seek a legal opinion on its right to develop its own ‘made-in-Manitoba’ plan.
