Several instances of irregular or improper activity at polling stations observed
The Progressive Conservative campaign in Point Douglas has formally raised concerns about a number of potential breaches of The Elections Act by the NDP.
A letter from George J. Orle Q.C., legal counsel for the Progressive Conservative campaign in Point Douglas, to Point Douglas Returning Officer Don Ward outlines several instances of irregular or improper activity in and around advance polling stations, including:
- A tweet posted by NDP candidate Bernadette Smith on Monday, June 5, which includes a photo of two individuals in front of the polling station at Neechi Commons, thanking them for voting NDP.
- NDP MLA Ted Marcelino was observed throughout the day on Saturday, June 3 moving back and forth between the parking lot of Neechi Commons and the polling station located inside.
- The regular presence of several NDP politicians in the balcony that overlooks the polling station at Neechi Commons.
The letter requests an early response from the Returning Officer to ensure that remaining advance polls and Election Day polls are not similarly affected.
