Progressive Conservative Leader Brian Pallister announced today he will create an advisory team of top business leaders to work with the premier and government to create new jobs and economic growth in the province.
“Jobs and growth are the top priorities of Manitobans. Under a Progressive Conservative government, they will be the top priorities of the premier,” said Pallister. “After 17 years of inaction by the Selinger NDP, a team approach with government and business working hand in hand to create new jobs is long overdue.”
The Premier’s Enterprise Team will assist the premier and government by:
- Making Manitoba a top national and international destination for investment, trade, innovation, and tourism;
- Promoting Manitoba on the national and international stage by participating in trade and investment missions with targeted business communities in key markets;
- Ensuring government programs are targeted, responsive and effective in the support they provide to job-creating businesses and sectors.
The Premier’s Enterprise Team will consist of up to 12 members, drawn from Manitoba's business community. The Manitoba Chambers of Commerce, the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, the Aboriginal Chamber of Commerce and the Business Council of Manitoba will each have the opportunity to propose representation.
“This is part of our Team Manitoba approach,” said Pallister. “We understand the economic growth and development of our province cannot be achieved in isolation. A PC government will work in collaboration with the business community."
